A Single-Surgeon Ophthalmology Practice

Surgical Eye Experts is a boutique, single-physician ophthalmology practice based in Bellaire, Texas. The practice was built on a different operating model than the multi-physician groups that dominate the Houston ophthalmology market: one board-certified surgeon, one set of standards, and one continuous relationship with every patient. Dr. Geoffrey Collett, MD evaluates your eyes, recommends a treatment, performs the procedure himself when surgery is appropriate, and oversees your follow-up. The same physician you meet at your first visit is the one in the operating room and the one greeting you at one-day, one-week, and one-month post-operative checks.

What We Treat

Our focus is medical and surgical eye care for adults. The conditions we evaluate and manage include:

• Cataracts - clouding of the natural lens, treated with phacoemulsification cataract surgery and an intraocular lens implant.
• Glaucoma - elevated intraocular pressure that damages the optic nerve, managed with eye drops, SLT laser, MIGS implants, and Durysta sustained-release therapy.
• Dry eye disease and meibomian gland dysfunction - treated with prescription drops and interventional therapies including OptiLight IPL and Prokera amniotic membrane.
• Pterygium - ocular surface growth removed in-office with amniograft to reduce recurrence.
• Posterior capsular opacification after cataract surgery, treated with YAG capsulotomy.
• Visually significant eye floaters, when YAG laser vitreolysis is appropriate.
• General adult ophthalmology evaluation, diagnostic imaging, and surgical consultation.

We do not perform LASIK. For refractive laser vision correction, we refer to trusted colleagues so our practice can focus on medical and surgical eye care.

Our Bellaire Office

Our office is located at 6800 West Loop S #120 in Bellaire, Texas, directly on Loop 610 with on-site parking. We see patients Monday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The location is a short drive from the Texas Medical Center, the Galleria, West University Place, Meyerland, Memorial, and downtown Houston. We also serve patients from Houston, Katy, and Sugar Land.

Technology and Procedures Available In-Office

Many of the procedures we offer are performed in-office, which keeps care convenient and avoids the staging and scheduling overhead of hospital surgery centers for non-surgical interventions. In-office procedures include OptiLight IPL therapy for dry eye, YAG capsulotomy, SLT for glaucoma, peripheral iridotomy for narrow angles, and Durysta intracameral glaucoma implants. Cataract surgery and pterygium excision are performed at partner surgery centers under topical anesthesia.

Insurance, Medicare, and Financing

We accept Medicare Part B and most major commercial insurance plans for medically necessary care. Standard cataract surgery with a monofocal intraocular lens is covered. Premium IOL upgrades (toric, multifocal, and the Light Adjustable Lens), IPL therapy for dry eye, and YAG vitreolysis are typically not insurance-covered.
